Intermedia sound art/sound poetry workshop

Language: german/ english

In a culture that is dominated by image and language, concentrating on sound gives us a new understanding of ourself, our emotions and our environment. The sound of the voice is connected to our emotions and subconcious interactions. The voice is a central means to connect with people.
Nowadays we also understand that the sound of environment is important for our quality of living. Concepts of acoustic ecology have been developed that go far beyond the simplistic idea that noise is bad and silence is good. It is possible to discover the beauty in everyday sounds.

The workshops try to raise consciousness to the diversity of possibilities in the voice as well as in environment sounds. They can be realized in schools, universities, museums, libraries or other institutions for participants of all ages and all backgrounds and qualifications.
The workshops are integrative & inclusive & work well with international, multicultural, multilingual participants. Basic languages of workshop are German and English.

The workshops can be combined with a lecture performance on sound poetry in German or English.

1) Sound Poetry Workshop “Fümmsböwö”
invites you to experiment & play with the sound of human voice & body. We will walk the line between speech, silence, poetry, performance & music. The world is much more than you can see. The workshop wants to raise a consciousness for the acoustic dimension of our life and interaction and wants to show the creative possibilities to work with sound. Sound and especially the sound of voice is a key to our emotions.

No experience necessary. The workshop is expecially interesting for writers, musicians or artists who want to expand their possibilities.
Material: pen & paper for notes. Smartphone for recording.

2) Sound Art Workshop “rrrummms”
invites you to discover, experience, experiment & play with the sounds of your environment. It will include fieldrecordings (and eventually small fieldrecording walks in the neighborhood). We will try to create short fieldrecording compositions or “fieldpoems” with our recorded sound and find out about other ways to create sound art. The world is much more than you can see. The workshop wants to raise a conciesness for the acoustic dimension of our life and interaction and wants to show the creative possibilities to work with sound. Sound and especially the sound of voice is a key to our emotions.
